YouTube Ads Tutorial | How to Correctly Launch a YouTube Ad Campaign

March 10, 2023 by VPM

If you’re new to YouTube advertising or a seasoned pro, you know that there’s a lot of moving parts and options when it comes to setting up YouTube ads. It can be confusing to understand what each setting means and how to set up a campaign. In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through how to properly set up a YouTube ad campaign in Google Ads. As the CEO of a YouTube advertising agency, we have launched over 5,000 YouTube ad campaigns over the last five years in different markets. We know what works and why it works, and we want to share our knowledge with you.

Pre-Requirements

Before setting up a YouTube ad campaign, you need to have the following:

  • The URL of the landing page you want to send traffic to
  • The URL of the YouTube video you want to advertise
  • Conversion codes set up and tracking to monitor the results

Choosing Your Campaign Type

When creating a new campaign inside of Google Ads, you get several options, such as your goal, whether it’s to generate leads, get traffic, or increase brand awareness. For most people, YouTube is a platform to drive leads and sales. If you want to go the branding route and just want to get cheap views, you should choose brand awareness and reach. For most clients, we are looking to drive high-quality leads and sales.

Setting up Your Campaign

Once you choose your campaign goal, you need to select the conversion goals. In our case, our goal is to book appointments, but you can choose any conversion goal that fits your business needs.

Next, you need to choose your campaign type. There are two types of YouTube campaigns: in-stream and discovery. In-stream ads are the ones that you can skip after five seconds, while discovery ads show up in the search and feed.

Naming Your Campaign

It’s essential to name your campaign correctly, as it helps with clarity and structure. Name your campaign based on the offer, audience, specifications, and geolocation. For example, if you’re promoting apps to an audience interested in advertising in the USA, your campaign name could be “Apps-In-Market-Advertising-USA.”

Lead Forms

Lead forms are forms that people can submit their information directly on the ad, but they may not be high-quality leads. Viewer discretion is advised if you want to go this route.

Bid Strategy

The next step is choosing your bid strategy. There are two options: target CPA or maximize conversions. For newer campaigns, we recommend starting with maximizing conversions and then switching to target CPA.

Conclusion

Setting up a YouTube ad campaign in Google Ads can be complicated, but by following these steps, you can set up your campaign correctly. Remember to name your campaign correctly, choose your campaign goal, choose your conversion goals, and choose your bid strategy. With these steps, you’ll be able to drive high-quality leads and sales.

How to Repurpose Content – The Waterfall Effect

March 10, 2023 by VPM

Many small business owners find themselves wondering how they can create more content without taking on ten times the workload. The answer lies in a strategy known as the Video Waterfall. This strategy allows you to create one piece of content and then use it to produce 10 other pieces of content that you can distribute across different social media platforms. Let’s break down how it works.

Step One: Create a YouTube Video

The first step is to create your original video for YouTube. This video should be 10-12 minutes long and answer a very specific question. It should also provide valuable information that viewers will want to share and come back for more.

Step Two: Break Up into Smaller Videos

Once you have your primary YouTube video, you can break it up into four 3-minute videos. These shorter videos are more suitable for platforms like Instagram and Facebook, where shorter attention spans are showing up.

Step Three: Create Vertical & Horizontal Versions

From these four short videos, you can further break them down into vertical versions for stories and horizontal versions for posts and other content formats. By creating these multiple versions, you are able to engage with different audiences who prefer different formats of video consumption.

Step Four: Distribute Across Social Platforms

Once you have your various versions ready, you can begin distributing them across multiple social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. You can even repurpose some of the material into blog posts or other written content formats if desired!

Conclusion:

The video waterfall strategy is an efficient way to maximize your content creation efforts while still producing quality materials that capture the attention of large audiences across multiple social media platforms. This strategy allows small businesses to remain competitive with their larger counterparts by leveraging the power of video marketing in an effective way! By creating high-quality videos that focus on answering key questions from customers, small businesses not only stand out from their competition but also build trust with customers and establish credibility in their industry space. From there, breaking up those videos into smaller segments and distributing them further aids in gaining additional exposure for their brand and product offerings!

What Are Best Targeting Methods to Reach Your Audience with YouTube Ads

March 10, 2023 by VPM

YouTube has 1.8 billion monthly active users, which means a quarter of the world’s population is actively on YouTube. If you want to get your message in front of millions, or thousands of very specific audiences, you have access to tools and segmented lists based on people’s search history and behavior online. In this blog post, we will discuss the best targeting methods to reach your exact audience with YouTube ads.

Custom Intent Audience

The custom intent audience is a great targeting method to reach your exact customer. You can target people based on what they’re searching for on Google. For example, if someone is searching for how to grow their business to six or seven figures, and you’re a business consultant, you can create an ad that shows a case study of how you helped your clients achieve that. Your ad will show on YouTube because there’s high search intent and because they have signals that show they’re in the market for what you have to offer. What’s great about custom intent is that it’s high intent, and people are actively searching for things that are relevant to your business.

Remarketing

Remarketing allows you to target people who have visited your website, watched your YouTube videos, or are on your email list. It’s like using Game Genie for Nintendo games. When you plug in the warm audience with your video, your ad performance will crush. The click-through rates are super high, and the conversion rates are high. When you have a high volume of audience relevance with message relevance, you will generate more leads and get more sales with the right mix of the audience and video. If you have a large YouTube channel or website that gets a ton of traffic, start there and plug in “I want to show this video to these audiences.”

Placement Targeting

Placement targeting allows you to put your ads in front of specific YouTube channels or videos. You can leverage other people’s audiences on their YouTube channels. For example, if you’re just starting out and you’re nobody, find other marketers who have big YouTube channels that you don’t have yet. You can target these YouTube channels, and before they watch their videos, they have to watch your videos. You can leverage their audience to come to your YouTube channel or go to your email list. Placement targeting is relevant, specific, and snipers target your audience. However, it has a high CPM, and it’s not very scalable.

Conclusion

YouTube is a powerful platform that offers incredible opportunities to reach your exact audience. The best way to reach your audience is by using custom intent audience targeting, remarketing, and placement targeting. These targeting methods will help you grow your business and generate more leads and sales. When you use the right mix of audience and video, you will see an increase in click-through rates and conversions.

What’s Working for Youtube Ads in 2023

March 10, 2023 by VPM

In 2022, the online advertising space underwent significant changes, especially with the iOS 14 update. These changes have impacted many people’s advertising on YouTube. Video Power Marketing, an advertising team that spends millions each month on YouTube and has Google reps, keeps a close pulse on what’s working and what’s not. Based on their experience, they have identified what’s working for YouTube ads in 2023, and revealed two critical skill sets that advertisers need to be successful on YouTube this year. Watch the whole video here:

Optimize for People, Not the Algorithm

It is important for businesses to play on both sides of the brain in order to be successful in video marketing. This means utilizing both short form and long form videos. Short form videos are shorter videos (typically less than five minutes) that are quick to produce and great for engaging viewers with bite-sized content. Long form videos are longer (typically more than 15 minutes) and provide more in-depth information about a topic and also have the potential to engage viewers for a longer period of time. Having a combination of both formats allows you to engage different types of audiences, so make sure to create content for both!

  • Focus on optimizing for human behavior, not just views, clicks, impressions, and conversions.
  • Remember that there is a human behind every view and click.
  • Provide value and make the customer’s life easier.
  • Take a step back and think about how you’re serving your audience.
  • Understand your audience by talking to your customers and getting insights into their needs.

Google Analytics 4

  • Google Analytics 4 is a solution to protect people’s privacy while optimizing for conversions and actions.
  • Update your Google Ads, Google Analytics 4, and Google Tag Manager to work together.
  • AI plays a significant role in optimizing for results for advertisers, so having all platforms talking together is crucial.
  • GA 4 can help you leverage data and AI to understand customer behavior better.
  • The old Google Analytics will be sunset in June or July, making GA 4 the only option going forward.

Conclusion

In conclusion, advertisers on YouTube must optimize for people, not the algorithm, and build products and services around the needs of their audience. Advertisers must also take advantage of Google Analytics 4, ensuring that their Google ads, Google Analytics 4, and Google tag manager are updated, to continue to leverage data and AI to be successful on YouTube.

Video Marketing Trends for 2023

February 28, 2023 by VPM

It’s the start of a new year, and that means it’s time to look ahead and make predictions about what we can expect from the video marketing space in 2023. We’ve all seen trends come and go, but which ones should you keep an eye out for this year? In this blog post, I’ll be discussing four key trends in video marketing that every small business should pay attention to.

Playing on Both Sides of the Brain

It is important for businesses to play on both sides of the brain in order to be successful in video marketing. This means utilizing both short form and long form videos. Short form videos are shorter videos (typically less than five minutes) that are quick to produce and great for engaging viewers with bite-sized content. Long form videos are longer (typically more than 15 minutes) and provide more in-depth information about a topic and also have the potential to engage viewers for a longer period of time. Having a combination of both formats allows you to engage different types of audiences, so make sure to create content for both!

Focus On Human Behavior

The algorithm is constantly changing, so it’s important to focus on human behavior instead of algorithms when creating content. This means understanding what type of content your target audience likes, how they consume it, and finding ways to stand out above the crowd by adding value or being creative with your content. People are always looking for something new—don’t be afraid to take risks!

Adding Value Is Key

Adding value is always going to be a trend because it does not change—it’s timeless! Add value by providing helpful advice and tips that people can use or learn from. Your goal should be creating content that will help your target audience solve their problems or answer their questions quickly and easily. If you can do this, then you’re sure to gain loyal followers who trust your brand and come back for more!

Conclusion

As we move into 2023, there are several key trends in video marketing that all small businesses should pay attention to if they want success with their campaigns this year. Playing on both sides of the brain with short form and long form videos is essential, as well as focusing on human behavior instead of algorithms when creating content. Lastly, adding value will always be a trend because it doesn’t change—so make sure you’re providing helpful advice or tips whenever possible! With these trends in mind, you’ll be well on your way towards having a successful year with your video marketing strategy!

How to Structure a Youtube Ad

February 28, 2023 by VPM

As a business owner or marketer, running video ads on various platforms is a common practice to generate high-quality leads and sales. However, it can be frustrating when your ads do not produce the desired results. There are several reasons why your campaign may fail, including poor targeting, a weak offer, and poor ad structure. However, based on my experience of spending millions of dollars on ads in various industries, the primary reason most campaigns fail is due to the actual video ad itself.

In this blog post, I will share how to structure your YouTube ads to grow your business successfully. But first, a quick disclaimer. For the rest of the blog, I assume that you have a product or service that people find helpful, valuable, and useful. Without a strong foundation of satisfied customers, no amount of advertising can substitute for a lousy product or service.

Grab Your Audience’s Attention

The first and most crucial aspect of your YouTube ad is to grab your audience’s attention. Given that viewers see a “Skip Now” button on the screen, the first 5-10 seconds of your video must make an impact. You need a powerful hook to keep your audience engaged and interested. Spend time testing different hooks to identify which one works best for your audience.

Here are some tips to make a compelling hook:

  • Start with a problem or a question that your audience can relate to
  • Use an emotional appeal that strikes a chord with your viewers
  • Use humor to grab their attention

Understand Your Audience

The second most critical factor in structuring your YouTube ad campaign is to understand your audience. You need to know who your audience is, what they want, and what they are searching for. However, it is easy to get trapped in your own bubble and fail to identify what your audience needs.

Here are some steps you can take to understand your audience better:

  • Conduct surveys to gather feedback from your customers and prospects
  • Talk to your customers on the phone and ask them about their needs and preferences
  • Use data analytics to monitor your audience’s behavior and identify trends

Craft a Strong Offer

Once you have captured your audience’s attention and identified their needs, the next step is to craft a compelling offer. Your offer is the value proposition you provide to your customers, which must resonate with their needs and wants.

Here are some tips to craft a strong offer:

  • Use language that resonates with your audience
  • Highlight the benefits of your product or service, not just the features
  • Provide social proof, such as testimonials or case studies, to demonstrate the value of your offer

Test and Optimize Your Ads

Finally, you need to test and optimize your YouTube ads to ensure they are performing well. Test different ad formats, hooks, offers, and targeting options to see what works best for your audience.

Here are some tips to optimize your YouTube ads:

  • Monitor your ad performance using analytics tools
  • Test different ad formats, such as bumper ads, in-stream ads, and video discovery ads
  • Refine your targeting options to reach the right audience
  • Optimize your ad frequency to avoid ad fatigue

In conclusion, structuring your YouTube ad campaign requires a deep understanding of your audience, crafting a strong offer, and creating a powerful hook. By following the tips outlined in this post, you can create ads that resonate with your audience, generate leads and sales, and grow your business. Remember to test, optimize, and refine your ads continuously to ensure you get the best results possible.

If you want to make money on YouTube, keep creating quality content that resonates with your viewers, and eventually, you’ll be able to turn your passion into a thriving business.
