Are you ready to crush your YouTube ad campaign for the year 2023? In this post, we will break down everything you need to know to launch your YouTube ad campaign quickly and effectively.
Pre-requirements for launching your YouTube ad campaign
Before diving in, there are a few pre-requirements that you must have in order to make this happen.
- A Google ad account
- A video uploaded to YouTube with a YouTube URL
- A landing page where you want to send traffic
- Knowledge about your audience
If you have all four of these things, then you’re ready to go!
Building out your YouTube ad campaign
Assuming that you have your video, landing page, and conversion code set up, let’s dive into launching your YouTube ad campaign. We’ll start inside Google Ads and build out a YouTube ad campaign in under 10 minutes.
Creating a New Campaign
Once you’re inside Google Ads, go to the campaign level and hit the blue button to create a new campaign. For this example, we’ll choose the “leads” option, but you can also choose “sales” or “website traffic” depending on your goals. If you have created conversion goals previously, select the goals you’re tracking.
Choosing Your YouTube Ad Type
For this example, we will be selecting in-stream ads, which are the ads you can skip after five seconds. You can also choose discovery ads, which are the videos that show up in search results or suggested videos.
Naming Your Campaign
We highly recommend you name your campaign with a good framework so that you can easily understand it. For example, include the offer, audience, and any geographic locations. In this example, our goal is to get incubator applications, so we’ll name our campaign “inc apps,” and our audience is going to be “in-market” and interested in “marketing.” We’ll also select the United States as our target geographic location and ensure we are targeting English speakers.
Choosing Your Bid Strategy
We recommend starting with a maximum conversions bid strategy to get your campaign up and running. Once you have a campaign that’s consistently getting 10 conversions per week, you can switch to a target CPA bid strategy. For the daily budget, we like to go three times our target CPA.
Networks and Content Exclusions
Unfortunately, we can no longer decide to exclude our ads from the display network. We also have to exclude certain audiences by going into tools and settings. While Google is pushing site links heavily, we prefer to have all traffic go to our landing page to maximize conversions.
Conclusion
Launching a YouTube ad campaign can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. By following these simple steps, you can quickly and effectively launch your YouTube ad campaign in under 10 minutes. Remember, the key is to have a clear understanding of your audience, goals, and bid strategy. Good luck!
